title: Cookbook | LlamaCloud Admin API
description: Task-shaped recipes for the organization-administration tier of the LlamaCloud Admin API — provisioning projects, minting project keys, granting project access, and adding organization members.
---

The [API reference](/api/index.md) documents every method one at a time. This cookbook goes the other way: it starts from a job you want done and shows the calls in the order you make them, in Python and TypeScript, with the places the API behaves unlike its status codes suggest marked as you reach them.

It covers the organization-administration tier only — organizations, projects, members, roles, and invites. Nothing here touches Parse, Extract, or Index.

## Who this is for

An organization admin automating tenant provisioning: creating a project per customer or per team, granting named people access to it, and bringing new people into the organization without clicking through the console.

Two prerequisites, both hard

**A user-scoped API key.** A project-scoped key cannot drive any recipe here. It is pinned to one project, so it cannot create another one and cannot see the organization at all. The first recipe opens with a read-only probe that tells you which kind you hold before you write anything.

**Organization-admin rights.** Every write below is gated on write access to the organization. Lacking it does not return 403 — it returns **404**, with a message saying the organization does not exist. If you are sure the id is right, that 404 is a permissions answer.

## Recipes

[Provision a team ](/cookbook/provision-a-team/index.md)End to end: find your organization, resolve role ids, create a project, mint a key for it, grant an existing member access, and add someone who is not yet a member. Both languages, every call.

[Troubleshooting ](/cookbook/troubleshooting/index.md)What each status code actually means on this surface, the four different 429s, the calls that return 200 while doing something else, and the full permission table.

[API reference ](/api/index.md)Every method, request, and response — in TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, and raw HTTP.
